What We Do

Iconic Audio
offers complete audio mixing and mastering packages for musicians with home and project studios.

These studios are great for capturing your creativity and give you the freedom to record without the pressure of the studio clock. However, recordings made in them usually lack the professionalism needed to make your song, EP or album artistically and commercially competitive.

That's where we come in. Iconic Audio brings together two of San Diego's most sought-after audio specialists — mix engineer Kyle Thompson and mastering engineer Paul Abbott — to make sure your tracks hold their own against music recorded in big-name studios.

Who We Are

His clientele ranges from Top 40 artists to indie rock bands, and includes Akon, Unwritten Law, Apes of Wrath, The Modlins and Publicists.

Notable clients include Mike Mills (R.E.M.), James Sonefeld (Hootie & the Blowfish) and a veritable who's who of San Diego-based artists.

Paul has also been featured in pro audio magazines such as EQ, Tape Op, Sound on Sound, and Music Connection and has been a voting member of the Audio Engineering Society since 2003.

"In the past 5 years I've lived in 6 different apartments, had 5 jobs, been in 4 bands, had 3 girlfriends, and lived in 2 states. But there's one thing that hasn't and won't change: I've always worked with Iconic Audio on my recordings. Their ingenuity and commitment to quality cannot be matched."

"Mixing with Kyle and mastering with Paul was a one-two combo which knocked out our most recent and favorite album, Where Does It End? -- and us along with it! It is so easy to work with the both of them, and the affordability of their rates belie the professionalism of the results they produce."

"Like a lot of musicians these days, I prefer to record in my own home studio, but when it comes to mixing and mastering, I wouldn't even consider working with anyone but Kyle and Paul. Simply put, they're gonna make your record sound awesome."

"The band and I are really happy with the end product. Kudos to both of you. I like this process for sure and can’t wait to finish the rest of the album."
